The Spirit Came Down Like a Dove
FROM KAREN ROWE:
In today’s first reading, we are called to be holy
with all those everywhere who call upon the name
of our Lord Jesus Christ (1 Corinthians 1:2).
Being called changes us and transforms us. Through
baptism, we are called to see and love each other as
fellow members of Christ’s body.
Today we begin the Week of Prayer for Christian
Unity. The theme is: “There is one Body and one
Spirit, just as you were called to the one hope of
your calling” (Ephesians
4:4).
This year’s Week of Prayer for Christian Unity has
been prepared by the faithful of the Armenian
Apostolic Church, together with Armenian Catholic
and Evangelical communities. It is a global ecumenical
initiative inviting Christians of all traditions to
join in prayer, reflection, and action for the unity of
the Church, inspired by Jesus’prayer “that they may
all be one” (John 17:21).
The focus for this year is to celebrate the shared
hope and faith that unites all Christians. To encourage
mutual respect, understanding, and collaboration
among different Christian traditions. We are to
reflect on the call to live as one Body in Christ,
guided by the Holy Spirit.
During this week, read and meditate on the Scripture
passages and reflections. We
look for unity and a shared commitment to love,
faith and hope in Christ.
Let us pray: God of light, you have called us out of
darkness into your light. May our
response to your call lead us to actively seek reconciliation
and share your light in the
world. Amen
