The formation committee serves the purpose of guiding and overseeing the spiritual, theological, and practical preparation of individuals within the faith community. This often includes programs for catechumens preparing for baptism, ongoing education for parishioners, and training for lay leaders or clergy candidates. The committee ensures that formation is rooted in the teachings of the Church and promotes personal and communal growth in faith and discipleship. Our committee oversees OCIA, CCD, retreats, bible studies, Children’s Liturgy, and ongoing formation for adults.

Religous Education
Children gather to hear the Word of God in a way that is accessible and meaningful to them. Through age- appropriate lessons and activities, it fosters a deeper understanding of scripture and spiritual truths while nurturing their relationship with Christ. This practice not only supports their faith journey but also helps them feel an integral part of the Church community. We can always use volunteers to help with this ministry. Overview
-
What is my commitment as a parent? It is an obligation to attend Mass on Sundays and Holy Days. It is a vital part of the religious formation of all ages. Children need to participate in the liturgical life of the parish through weekly attendance at Mass. Our Mass times are Saturday Vigil, 5:00 PM, Sunday, 10:15 AM, and 1:00 PM (Spanish). Let us commit ourselves as one family to educate our young, help us to help one another in this task and to reveal God’s great glory. In following Christ’s example, we can create an environment that puts our youth in touch, communion, and intimacy with Jesus Christ.
-
What are my responsibilities as a parent?Commit to one's own personal faith formation: Pray, read, study Exemplify Christian living - Live as a disciple of Christ Help others encounter Christ Share the story of your own faith journey Lead children in prayer. Teach them how to make the Sign of the Cross, Prayer Before Meals, Our Father, Hail Mary, and Glory Be. Once they know these prayers, teach them the Apostle’s Creed and how to say the rosary. Build from the doctrine of the Church Live as a person in communion with God and the church Be good stewards of God’s creation.

Bible Study
At Saint Mildred, we meet for numerous bible studies. We meet on Tuesday mornings from 9:15-10:30 am. On Fridays, a women’s bible study is held from 10:15- 11:30 am and a Spanish bible study is on Friday nights at 7 PM. We invite you to deepen your faith through the exploration of scripture while fostering a closer relationship with God. We gather to ask question, follow Catholic tradition, and create fellowship. This is a lifelong pursuit to help us grow in knowledge, faith, and wisdom.

Retreats
Every year in November, we have a High School retreat. Candidates for Confirmation are required to attend, but all High School students are welcome. We leave Saint Mildred on Friday night after a meal with students and families and arrive at Saint Joseph Inn in Whitley City around 6:30 PM. The retreat is about fellowship and developing a personal relationship with Jesus. We have a different theme each year to provide catechesis and learning through play and fun activities. We are slowly resuming our retreats for men and women both in English and Spanish. More information to follow.
